We have all started, stopped, and restarted multiple workout plan over the years. But do we no it’s time to ditch an old workout routine.

Sticking to a workout for a long time is certainly a good thing. However, results are important too, and some workout plans are great fit for some people but aren’t so great for others.

How can you tell? Here are four reasons you need a new workout plan this year

You may need a new workout plan because you are bored and have hit a plateau.

This is a tricky one. You can’t assume you hit a plateau if you haven’t been diligent and consistent.

At the same time going for your workout should not feel like a chore. Maybe it started as an engaging challenge that has now become too easy. This means it’s time to switch it up.

You are not seeing results.

You’ve been at it for a couple of months but there’s no difference in your weight, muscle tone, or strength. We all have that one exercise we’re especially good at or that tones a certain muscle group we appreciate.

But if nothing is changing then it time to give it for something more dynamic.

You need a new workout plan this year because you don’t feel exhausted afterwards.

This could mean either a) you aren’t doing the right type of workout, or b) the workout isn’t intense enough. You should consider trying a workout that incorporates more components to see where your are being under challenged.

For example, kickboxing fuses high intensity interval drills with resistance training. Try a few classes and compare the feeling to your previous workout.

You can’t make it part of your lifestyle.

If you’re having a hard time making it part of your lifestyle you won’t be able to sustain it. This is the number one reason fitness fads never produce sustainable results.

Your workout should feel like a part of your everyday life. It should also have a goal, whether it’s to increase your cardiovascular fitness or to strengthen and tone certain muscle groups.

A workout routine that is redundant with no goals to aspire towards is hard to stay motivated with. This is one of the reasons group workouts like our signature muay thai classes in Toronto are popular with adults.

If your current workout lacks such focus, you aren’t likely going to see the results you want. You need to have specific targets to reach for so you can measure your progress.
