I started muay thai classes around three months ago with my fiancé as a way to cut weight for our wedding. He assured me that it was the surest way to get results and he wasn't wrong! I have now come to love the classes and will continue to train even after the wedding! Master Dayo is a great instructor and very welcoming. His classes are never repetitive or boring. The school has a very friendly environment and there is no judgment whatsoever no matter what level you are at. This is my first time training in any kind of martial arts and as a woman I fully recommend it!!

When I first joined THA I was looking for something to help with stress relief. I had never been a part of any gym before, and had certainly never boxed, so I was nervous that the classes would be too difficult or that I would make a fool of myself. I started in the Fitness Kickboxing class and never looked back. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and encouraging to all of their members, some of which have been coming to the gym for over 10 years! I consistently found the workouts challenging, but doable, and I was able to measure my progress over time. The Fitness Kickboxing is done with standing punching bags, but the instructors make sure to teach you proper Muay Thai technique.When I needed a little more instruction or correction, the instructors were always there, and never made me feel stupid or singled out.After almost a year of of the Fitness Kickboxing class, I started taking their Muay Thai classes as well, which I enjoyed even more. The Muay Thai is done with pads and gloves in pairs, and often a more experienced student is paired with a beginner. The other members are also extremely friendly and welcoming and know their stuff - I have never felt like they resented me for being more inexperienced or needing to take a combination a little slower. I have also always felt very safe in their classes even though I was initially afraid of being hit - but I have never been struck by accident or without pads.From someone who had never done workouts and always hated exercise, I highly recommend this school. I have noticed a significant decrease in my anxiety and feel much better about myself now that I am more active. Whether you are a beginner or just looking to try something new, I would recommend coming to this school - you will not regret it!

I train in Krav Maga self-defence and was looking for the proper environment to learn Muay Thai. Firstly, everyone is very respectful and friendly. This makes the training environment fun and easy to learn (for beginners and/or those with experience). Secondly, Master Dayo has a very clear and engaging teaching style. He provides very helpful feedback to every single student. Lastly, both your technique and cardio will benefit dramatically. Overall, a very positive experience!

I love being at THA MARTIAL ARTS , It is an amazing experience , the people and instructors are so friendly , i love walking in on a Saturday morning to help out , the techniques they teach are so amazing and so useful , THA martial arts is amazing and lots of fun , every time I go in I get better and better and i feel so amazing physically , mentally and emotionally , I love being here , since I started here I learned so much and I really have no words , I suggest people try it out , you will love it here , I know I do ,

As a mom of 3 I found it hard to motivate myself to get out there and try something like this. I thought it would be boring and I wouldn't stick to it. Boy was i wrong.. this place is amazing they make you feel so welcome and I look forward to each and every class. They are on your side no matter what. There is no looking down on people just genuine people helping eachother out! Love this place and I can't wait till I can reach my goal! Myself and my friend try to make it every night!

I’m a sucker for group fitness and this place takes it to another level.Easy to access by car or transit. Challenges for all levels, great atmosphere, family friendly and amazing instructors.I highly recommend for those looking to get in shape/increase fitness level, learn a beautiful martial art and enjoy the company of incredible members.No regrets with their trial offer, 3 weeks unlimited access to all classes and a free pair of gloves! Best decision I made all year.

It is a great way to “test-drive” Evoke’s self defense classes to see how we are a good fit for you.

Yes there will!

Our martial arts fam is ever growing with new members joining all the time.

Evoke’s sessions are beginner friendly and your training is organized to be progressively challenging; so you can go at your own pace.

Not quite.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and mixed martial arts (MMA) are really popular now. But there is more to them than self defense buzz words.

Although Hapkido is a Jiu Jitsu type martial art that is Korean, the techniques differ in focus. It has its roots from Japan, and shares similar techniques to what is seen in today’s mixed martial arts training.

So, you will be learning striking, takedowns, ground submissions in your classes.

But, to be clear – we are not an “mma school” 😉

Evoke offers a variety of membership options & payment plans with some starting around $30 per week.

Your first step is to start with a trial.

It’s important to us that you enjoy your class, consider it beneficial, and find us to be a good fit for you.

Oh… yes!

Women make up a good size of members and even our instructor team.

Evoke Martial Arts is a community-hub with a training environment that is family-like, inclusive, and not gender dominated.

Yes. Sparring is integral and important tool in gaining proficient self protection skills.

However new students are not sparring from the get go.

Our beginner class, for example, focus on basic escapes, conditioning, submission concepts, and fundamentals.

There are separate intermediate and advance classes for members interested in sparring training.

We don’t either; and No!

Getting beat up or shown up is something you will never have to worry about at Evoke.

We honour in traditional values of mutual respect and humility. Our classes are designed for functionality while ensuring an emphatic awareness for members’ safety and well-being.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, we have to restrict spectators.

None-the-less, we are happy to schedule a visit – off hours – to check out the school, and assist with any questions you may have.

Training at Evoke has been a truly wonderful experience. As an adult engaging in martial arts for the first time, the environment has been ideal. All of the instructors have been motivating, knowledgeable, and supportive. The classes offer a great workout and a chance to feel a little bit badass. I look forward to continuing the journey!
